Commenting as the Observer today reports that the government 'tried to block' data on the spread of the new Indian Covid variant in schools, Paul Whiteman, general secretary of school leaders' union NAHT, said:
“Reports that the government is deliberately withholding data on the spread of the Indian variant in schools are extremely concerning. The success of the return to school depends upon public confidence. It is important that we have complete transparency when it comes to transmission data in schools so that the right measures can be put in place. Without that all the hard work of school leaders and their teams will be undermined. We urge the government to publish the data it holds without any further delay.”
