Commenting on National Children’s Day (Sunday 16th May), Paul Whiteman, general secretary of school leaders’ union NAHT, said: “It’s been a difficult year for children and young people and the pandemic has undeniably had an impact on them. It is only right that we now put children and young people at the heart of this country’s recovery. The government’s stated ambition is not to leave any child behind but in order to make that a reality they must match their words with funding, and fully support the recovery work of schools and services over the coming years.”
