Paul Whiteman, general secretary of school leaders’ union NAHT, said: “Sixth forms and colleges have been particularly hard hit by cuts to education funding. That directly impacts the quality of education and opportunities for young people at a crucial moment in their lives, as they launch into the world of work or higher education and make important decisions about their futures – especially under the cloud of Covid-19 and the possibility of further economic hardship caused by a no-deal Brexit. The government must value further education and take urgent action on the issue of school and college funding or risk damaging the futures of this generation.”
