Carbon neutral plans must follow biodiversity funding boost says NAHT

Responding to the government's announcement of £15m to help pupils in disadvantaged areas learn outside and experience nature, Natalie Arnett, school business policy lead at school leaders’ union NAHT, said:

“School leaders are deeply committed not just to teaching pupils about sustainability, environmental issues and climate change, but also to ensuring that sustainability is a core part of their school culture.

“The additional funding to support biodiversity is welcome, and the Climate Leaders Award and National Nature Park are positive initiatives that schools and their pupils can engage with, and which build upon the great work already underway.

“Alongside this, the government must develop ambitious plans that allow the education estate as a whole to move towards carbon neutrality.”
