Today (16 July) former schools minister Lord Knight moved his Education (Environment and Sustainable Citizenship) Bill in the House of Lords.
James Bowen, director of policy at school leaders’ union, NAHT said: “NAHT believes that all children and young people should experience a broad and balanced curriculum. As part of that, schools should support pupils to develop their knowledge and understanding of the world we live in, including environmental issues which children and young people feel passionately about. It’s important to remember that schools are already doing excellent work in this area and many already explore the topic of climate change with their pupils.”
