In April 2014, the Department of Education announced the introduction of regional schools commissioners (RSCs). Eight regions throughout England were identified, with responsibilities delegated by the secretary of state including overseeing academies, free schools, university technical colleges and studio schools in that regions. This advice provides an overview of the remit of RSCs.
