Managing non-attendance, school refusers and those unwilling or struggling to return

The information that we have from the start of this term is that most children are returning to school in the normal way and are happy to be back. However, there will be some instances where this isn’t the case.

We have put together some high-level advice and tips for school leaders to deal with the small minority of children who might be reluctant returners. The guidance looks at the different groups that may be reluctant to return, broadly healthy children with worried parents, historic reluctant attendees and children or families with pre-existing health conditions.
