Paul Whiteman, general secretary of school leaders’ union NAHT, said: “Another small reduction in school attendance means that the amber light should still be flashing on the government’s dashboard. It is far too early to be complacent about lifting restrictions or relaxing safety measures. The Indian variant of the virus adds another level of concern to the picture. Schools which take a sensible approach based on their local circumstances should be encouraged to do this.”
