Nick Brook, deputy general secretary of school leaders’ union NAHT, said: “The government has confirmed that schools previously judged outstanding will once again be inspected alongside other schools, when inspection resumes. However, it is far from clear when that will be. Government plans that inspections will resume from January 2021 appear to be more hope than judgement. With the country heading rapidly towards an Autumn / Winter spike, it is looking increasingly unlikely that routine inspection of schools could realistically start again any time soon. NAHT is clear that government needs get the pandemic under control before restarting high stakes inspection which will only add to the extraordinary burden already facing school leaders, their staff and their pupils.”
