Responding to the news that Eluned Morgan will be the next first minister of Wales, Laura Doel, NAHT Cymru national secretary said:

“We welcome Eluned Morgan as the next first minister, the Welsh government urgently needs stability.

“Once she is officially confirmed in post, we would implore the new first minister to focus on investment in education – putting the children of Wales first will ensure the future prosperity of Wales. We ask that she puts a laser focus on the problems that are damaging education – lack of school funding, support for children with additional learning needs, and the recruitment and retention crisis, fuelled by poor teacher pay.”
