Responding to a new report by the Education Policy Institute on 'managed moves' of secondary school pupils, James Bowen, assistant general secretary at school leaders' union NAHT, said:
“Managed moves, done in the right way, can be positive for all parties.
"They can provide an opportunity for a fresh start in a new environment.
"However, it is important that there is a clear policy and protocol for managed moves.
“This is better for the pupils, families and schools involved, and increases the chances of children settling, flourishing and being successful.”
