Commenting on a report released today by Ofsted of a snap inspection of John Fisher School in Croydon, following the controversial cancellation of a gay author’s visit to the school in March, Paul Whiteman, general secretary of school leaders’ union NAHT, said:
“We note and are pleased that Ofsted has confirmed that ‘the archdiocese’s attempt to impose an IEB was made unilaterally and without due regard to the published statutory guidance regarding the appointment of IEBs.’
“Most importantly, we are pleased that Ofsted has praised the excellent work of leaders in the school under difficult circumstances, and has recognised that leaders are ‘steering the school well through this difficult time.’”
