The Department for Education releases a new financial insights tool for academy trusts

Last week, the Department for Education (DfE) launched the first version of the view my financial insights tool for academy trusts. The tool uses data submitted by trusts in their 2018 to 2019 accounts return.

The tool aims to show how an academy’s financial performance compares with statistically similar schools across nine different cost categories.

The tool is available through the view your education data portal, which can be accessed by anyone in the trust with an Identity and Access Management System (IDAMS) account.

Trusts can also access their pre-populated school resource management self-assessment tool from within the portal.

Alongside the new resource, the DfE has also released a short video outlining how the tool works, along with some introductory guidance.
