March is Women's History Month, which NAHT recognises as a positive opportunity to support schools in their ongoing work to celebrate the achievements and contributions of women in the UK and around the world throughout history, both during the month and throughout the rest of the year.
International Women’s Day
Saturday 8 March is International Women’s Day. The United Nations’ theme for International Women’s Day in 2025 is ‘For ALL women and girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment’ – and central to this is the importance of empowering the next generation as catalysts for lasting change
The theme emphasises the importance of retaining an intersectional approach in the fight for gender equality, ensuring the empowerment of women is inclusive of all races, sexualities, disabilities, irrespective of gender assigned at birth. It also calls for us to reflect on the rights previous generations have won, to inspire our work breaking down barriers to equality today.
