Become an NAHT life member

 

NAHT Life membership, Keeping you covered

You must transfer to Life membership within six months of leaving full NAHT membership.

 

What Life membership offers:

  •  A professional community where you can speak and vote on the issues that affect life members locally and regionally
  •  Discounted benefits through negotiated rates with our preferred partners
  •  Expert advice and guidance on any issue you face concerning your pension, retirement and NAHT volunteering
  •  Become a mentor with NAHT mentoring scheme
  •  Representation by the National Life Members Committee who actively work on your behalf to protect your current and future needs
  •  National Executive Committee representation
  •  The opportunity to join or help establish a life members’ group in your area
  •  A spring, summer, autumn and winter life member newsletter, a termly Leadership Focus magazine and access to the members’ area of our website.

 

We offer flexibility around your future plans. Your life membership can be upgraded to the appropriate full membership subscription if you decide to take up an interim educational leadership position. When the employment comes to an end, we will reinstate your life membership.

The initial fee for life membership also includes the cost of part-time classroom teaching cover (0-19 years) for the first 12 months. Should this additional classroom cover be required thereafter, it is available for an additional subscription.

Rule 3.9 - Eligibility: A full member who has ceased to be eligible for full membership by reason of the termination of employment and has become entitled to retirement benefits shall be eligible for life membership. An associate member is eligible for life membership on becoming entitled to retirement benefits.

Life membership does not include public liability or professional indemnity insurances, but if necessary, these are available to our self-employed members at preferential rates through one of our partners, James Hallam ProMed.
