Becoming a healthier, happier leader

Facilitator - Sarah Herbert

School leadership is more of a marathon than a sprint, so to be successful we need ‘pacers’ (people and habits who make it possible for us to reach the finish line successfully). We will examine the notion of resilience, what it means to each of us and how we can develop it.

We will make use of tools such as the ‘stress bucket’ and ‘circles of influence’. Participants will be invited to complete a self check to support them to make a plan for increased health and happiness. Tools that act as ‘pacers’ such as breath work, journaling, movement, mindfulness, seeking connection, meaningfulness and joy and enjoying solitude will be explored.

Aims:

  • Participants will be able to identify their stress indicators so they can spot the need to take action.
  • Participants will be able to write a plan stating what they will start to do, stop doing and continue to do to be healthier and happier school leaders.
  • Participants will be able to make use of a variety of tools to improve their health and happiness.
  • A workbook will be available after the session.

Audience

All leaders, all phases.
