Darren is a former mountaineer who sustained a life-changing injury in a near-fatal climbing accident in the summer of 2016. Whilst lucky to survive, the accident would leave him permanently paralysed from the chest down. With determination, grit and an unrelenting resilience, Darren has overcome adversity to become an adventurer and expedition leader. In the summer of 2021, Darren led a team of five injured/wounded veterans in becoming the first team to kayak from Land’s End to John O’ Groats - a distance of over 1,400 kilometres. In 2022, Darren will travel to Antarctica to take on another world first challenge.
Darren’s personal story of overcoming adversity and building a resilient mindset is guaranteed to motivate, encourage change and inspire. Instilled with humour, down-to-earth honesty and a genuine sense for adventure and pushing the limits of his disability, Darren cares deeply about connecting with his audience and getting them to think – and act – differently.
