Working with teacher supply and recruitment agencies

This advice is intended to support NAHT members in their dealings with agencies and support them in avoiding the potential pitfalls.

The teacher recruitment crisis means that schools are increasingly needing to work with teacher supply agencies, both for supply and permanent positions. As this market has grown, the number of agencies operating has also expanded and NAHT members have raised concerns about the professional conduct of some of these agencies. This advice is intended to support NAHT members in their dealings with agencies and support them in avoiding the potential pitfalls.

As part of this NAHT has worked closely with the Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCO), to develop a Code of Conduct for members who work with schools and academies. This Code of Conduct for Education Sector Group members sets out how agencies who are members of APSCO will conduct themselves and what schools and academies can expect from these agencies.
