Chair: Sarah Hewitt-Clarkson, head teacher at Anderton Park Primary School, Birmingham
With an ever-changing education system, our members must come together to look at primary schools’ current situation and future to ensure we can continue to inspire the hearts and minds of children. This group makes sure the key issues for our primary members stay at the forefront of our work.
The council helps to steer and develop our policy and campaigning priorities, and ensures our advice and guidance reflects the needs of our primary members. The group, which meets four times a year, also supports the work of our membership team in recruiting new primary members and assists with the development of our training courses and conferences.
Areas of focus for the council include the following:
- Curriculum and assessment
- Accountability
- Pupil mental health and well-being
- School funding.
