Responding to this morning's A level, Advanced Skills Challenge Certificate and Advanced Welsh Baccalaureate results, Laura Doel, national secretary of NAHT Cymru said:
“Congratulations to all students receiving their results today who have worked so hard through one of the most challenging periods in education.
“For the vast majority of A level students in particular, these are the first results they have ever received from sitting formal exams, having missed out of the traditional GCSE experience because of the pandemic.
“Although we may be seeing different results this year, this should in no way diminish the achievements of students and anyone who thinks comparing year on year data in this way is useful needs to drastically rethink their outlook. It’s unhelpful and demoralising for those students, their teachers and their families. The school experience of these young people has been disrupted, yet they have excelled.
“Today is a day to celebrate success and looking forward to starting a new adventure into further education, training or employment.”
