NAHT Crown Dependencies

NAHT represents school leaders in Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man. We provide advice, training and support for our members on a range of issues faced by senior leaders in schools. Along with our colleagues in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, NAHT is there to defend and extend the rights of school leaders.

NAHT members take part in the TUC Women’s Conference 2025

A strong NAHT delegation contributed to this year’s TUC Women’s Conference, which took place in London from 5 to 7 March. It was the first in the TUC's 2025 series of equality conferences, which focus on supporting the advancement of issues that disproportionally impact minority groups.

NAHT was represented by five NAHT members from across our regions, who discussed and supported calls across a number of issues that were put to the conference. The motions debated touched on these themes:

  • violence against women and girls (VAWG) and misogyny
  • employment rights and workplace equity
  • parental rights
  • economic and social welfare
  • health and wellbeing
  • technology and artificial intelligence (AI).

An NAHT member spoke in support of a motion to tackle the rise of misogyny and the far right, arguing that schools are crucial in influencing the minds of future generations – but that they cannot do this alone. They explained how, with students often encountering misogynistic narratives online before even stepping into the classroom, school leaders often face an uphill battle.

Delegates also had the opportunity to join fringe discussions and wider union networking sessions.

The conference closed on the eve of International Women’s Day on 8 March 2025, when we released our latest findings on the gender pay gap in education. Read more about our work on closing the gender pay gap in education.
