NAHT launches its manifesto, 'For Their Future', as prime minister calls general election

The prime minister has called for a general election, setting the stage for a critical juncture in the political landscape.

NAHT's manifesto, For Their Future, will play a pivotal role in the electoral discourse leading up to 4 July 2024.

Launched today, 22 May 2024, the manifesto amplifies the voices of school leaders and ensures their concerns and aspirations take centre stage in the political debate.

It emphasises the crucial role of education in shaping society's future and pinpoints three urgent and pressing crises that the next government must address:

  • recruitment and retention
  • special educational needs and disabilities
  • school buildings.

It shows how additional funding for education will be essential in solving these crises.

The manifesto also highlights an opportunity for the next government to ensure that the school system meets the needs of all pupils by delivering a curriculum and assessment system that prepares them for life in the modern world.

You can read the manifesto in full here.
